Parkwind develops, finances, and operates offshore wind farms. Since 2023 Parkwind has been wholly owned by JERA, the Japanese energy group that is one of the world’s largest electricity producers. It is now part of JERA Nex, JERA’s renewable energy subsidiary.

The role will be based in Melbourne and will require frequent collaboration with the JERA Group Headquarters in Japan, the JERA Nex Headquarters in the UK and Parkwind Headquarters in Belgium.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Make, implement and maintain a milestone plan for the initiation and completion of all the works related to the electrical HV connection of an offshore windfarm to the Victorian transmission grid.
  • In collaboration with the overall Electrical Package Manager of the Project, set up the budget for the design, construction and installation of all those works and final responsibility of the budget.
  • Create the technical Employer Requirements and check, assess, and approve the engineering and design of the electrical onshore and offshore infrastructure.
  • Initiate a Tender process for procurement of the different electrical components that compose an offshore windfarm.
  • Set-up an accurate CAPEX and planning of the electrical infrastructure in view of Australian first offshore wind auction.
  • In general, ensure that relevant HSE requirements are integrated within the activities, whether these requirements are defined by legislation, contract or project plans.
  • Manage the required interfaces between the electrical works and the foundation and WTG package.
  • Proactively ensure that nothing has fallen between chairs in the function’s interface and take ownership of any such work
  • After the Auction: close contracts for supply and installation of the onshore and offshore high voltage stations and HV transmission lines
  • Proactively manage the Supply and Installation Contract of the substation and any HV transmission works to ensure the works are executed safely, delivered promptly, on schedule and on budget and in a good quality all in accordance to the Project Execution Plan
  • Ensure that the necessary recommendations on the choice of technical solutions and preferred suppliers are generated and approved by the overall Electrical Package and EPCI Manager in a timely manner.
  • Proactively identify and take ownership of risks and mitigate consequences of these.
  • Execute actions in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a good and strong relationship between the EPCI contractor(s) and the different Stakeholders.
  • Oversee the entire grid connection process from initial stages to post-commissioning, covering business development, engineering design, construction, and commissioning phases.
  • Coordinate with AEMO, network service providers, OEMs, and technical consultants throughout the grid connection process.

Job requirements

What You Will Have

  • Master degree in Electrical Engineering, High Voltage Systems
  • Understanding of power systems and grids, experience in renewable technology and wind farm connections.
  • Experience working with high voltage systems.
  • Demonstrated understanding of NER, AEMO and NSP requirements relating to connection applications, including AESCSF.
  • Experience securing agreement for multi-disciplinary commercial contracts.
  • Ability to manage complex technical and commercial issues.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and business acumen.
  • You will report to the overall Electrical Package manager of the project
