In order to support JERA’s ambition in Renewables, we manage a large number of investment opportunities, tenders, bids, M&A, greenfield developments and highly complex and capex intensive projects and joint ventures that sometimes include P2X. We also receive an even larger number of opportunities to participate in and need to carefully select those we pursue and those we do not.
The Business Development Project Manager will act as a de facto chief of staff for the VP of global onshore with respect to our global pipeline (currently circa 15 projects around >10GW in size) and must demonstrate the capacity to manage, oversee and prioritise the global onshore pipeline in a self-starting mode, which will require extensive multi-tasking and balancing competing timelines and priorities.
The role will be based in London and may require travel within JERA Nex regions including Europe, Middle East, APAC and North America, and working with our teams (and extended JERA business units) within these regions.
As a direct report to the VP for Onshore, you will be responsible for effectively and efficiently managing certain opportunities, bid and projects within the pipeline of JERA Nex to secure the achievement of the 2035 target, and to manage ongoing and subsequent investments, projects and pipeline related activities.

You will be responsible for directly managing and supporting the bidding, partnering, M&A, and tendering processes that are of strategic interest to JERA Nex and will actively contribute to reviewing, assessing as well as sourcing or screening new business opportunities in line with JERA Nex’s corporate strategy. To grow to 20GW (net) at FID by 2035 of which two thirds is expected to be onshore renewables; onshore wind, solar PV and battery storage. It is expected that this role will be dynamic and involve a variety of activities some of which might be ad-hoc in nature. What you will do
- Managing projects within the JERA Nex onshore pipeline, including origination, bidding, M&A and other ad-hoc projects such as asset transfer, platform participation and general project management.
- Coordinating with project leads and teams ensuring updates are timely, accurate and in keeping with required formats.
- Coordinating, preparing, and compiling pipeline information including budget, timeline, progress activities and risks.
- Coordinating bid requirements, collating, and compiling the required information.
- Screening of new opportunities, including screening note development and presentation, scoring of opportunities, assessing them against our investment criteria, and presenting this on a regular basis.
- Preparing the relevant internal documents for the management and/or board as required, or in other cases helping the team compile and reviewing/coordination such compilation.
- Coordinating the above activities with other regions within JERA; Japan, Middle East, US, APAC and Australia,
- Working in close collaboration with and under the oversight of the deal/transaction/bid team to ensure tender structure and terms are consistent with corporate strategy and mandate.
- Representing JERA Nex in interactions and negotiations with counterparties and at industry events with outstanding competence, professionalism, and integrity.
Job requirements
Who you are
- 5+ years of relevant experience in infrastructure tendering processes and/or project and pipeline management, preferably combined with a relevant experience in the onshore/renewable industry.
- Strong project/programme management skills, including strong proficiency with analysis and presentation tools; Excel, Powerpoint, Project and PowerBI.
- Ability to manage many projects including their status and workstreams simultaneously.
- Sound time management, organizational, analytical problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal, relationship building and communication skills, particularly in English, written and spoken.
- Ability to analyse and synthesize, and to write in a clear and concise-style.
- Open, pro-active, with a critical mindset.
- Dynamic and rigorous, and a passion for renewables and making a difference.
- Team player, willing and ready to roll your sleeves up and work in a collaborative environment, though an environment that is still forming and evolving.
